A few years back, my wife and I had just purchased a new home for us, our toddler and young children. The idea was simple - to expand into a house with a yard so we can watch the kids grow, have space for them to play and to settle into a more comfortable and spacious family life.

We set up a trampoline and swings for the kids and my wife Alison started a beautiful garden next to the lawn. Roses, geraniums, and even planted a few small orange trees. All it all was going well for the first few months until some problems arose and slowly got worse over the next weeks…

We not only had a bit of a problem with spiders and ants that would get in the house, but we noticed two other issues: the garden was disappearing AND there were huge mounds of dirt surfacing in the yard that were ruining the lawn.
