How does sound or vibration deter rodents?

Being close to the bottom of the food chain has made rodents very cautious animals. They have heightened senses and a superb fight or flight system that errs towards flight. Anything they don’t understand or perceive as a threat will cause them to flee, which is the reaction we provoke with our pest control solutions.

Sound and vibration both cause rodents to perceive a threat or something they don’t understand, so their survival instincts kick in and they leave the area. They also don’t like sound or vibration!

Most of our solutions use batteries but some will need an AC connection to provide power. A couple is solar powered so are fully self-contained. Each product page will outline the exact requirements for powering the device so you always know what you’re buying.

Will these rodent control devices keep my yard clear of other pests too?

Many rodent control devices will also work on other animals. Ultrasonic repellents work on bats, raccoons, opossums, groundhogs, skunks and armadillos as well as rodents.

Why should I scare away rodents from my property?

There are a few practical things you can do to minimize rodent problems. Keep doors, screens and windows in good repair.

Minimize cold and damp areas on your property, don’t leave food lying around on countertops or on the floor, regularly inspect cupboards, cellars, attics, wood stores and any likely hidey holes and keep garbage away from the home and inside a trash can.
