The truth is deer are one of the biggest destroyers of gardens. While they’re a graceful and beautiful animal, they enjoy eating flowers and your plants. My name is Donna Edwards and here’s my true story about the invisible battle in my yard and how I finally figured out a way to keep the deer away for good.
I’m a passionate gardener. I live in northern California and have a peaceful garden with roses, orange, lemon and fig trees as well as an assortment of geraniums and other types of potted plants. I started planting most of them within the past year and they started growing nicely. It did take quite a bit of money, a higher water bill and a lot of time and hard work. I was excited to move in where I did as I would finally have enough space for a decent sized yard and plants. Things were going well for the first few months but then something weird happened…
I woke up the next day and about half the leaves were gone on my roses and the lemon tree. I couldn’t believe it. I knew it wasn’t anyone who snuck in and cut the flowers back and it couldn’t have been anything like weather or the slightly colder night. I had no idea what it was. I ended up planting two more lemon trees and adding some new potted plants. And like clockwork, within days most of the leaves were gone. The plants looked barren and it almost brought me to tears because of all the hours I would spend in the garden and the effort to water it all. I felt like my garden was being taken away and no matter how hard I worked or what I added, it kept going away. One night I finally found out what it was when I was awake in the night. I couldn’t believe it. It was deer. Three of them! This went on for weeks to the point my garden was basically ruined. So I looked online and eventually found some DIY methods and used some sprays. The problem with the sprays is I found out after more research that they have harmful chemicals and aren’t good for kids or pets to inhale. And they didn’t even work that well, as it only stopped the deer for a few days.
So I kept on searching for answers, hoping I could find something that worked. Luckily, I was able to find a company called HomeShielders online and I bought a smart ultrasonic system for the garden. I easily installed these small devices near the plants and connected them with my phone via Bluetooth. I’m not an expert on science, but what it does is it sends out ultrasonic sound waves that bother the deer to the point of leaving. It worked much better than the sprays and treatments I tried earlier and the best part is that it doesn’t harm the deer, pets or people. It’s eco-friendly and as a gardener I want products that help the environment, not hurt it.
After just a matter of 3 days the deer were gone and never came back. All I do is keep the sound waves on at night when the deer are most active. And I can’t lie, it did take a while for my plants to grow back and I had to replace some, but now my garden is the best it’s been. It’s flourishing!
The only mistake I made is not knowing about this sooner and being able to save my plants before this happened! I highly recommend HomeShielders to anyone out there dealing with deer wrecking their yard and eating the vegetation. This stuff basically is the animal and pest control of the future.
Happy gardening,
Donna
“My only regret was I waited so long to try this unit. I don't have any other pests, so I don't know how it works on bugs, etc., but apparently mice can't stand it."
"One week, and my spiders have gone scampering away! One week, and I haven't found that cockroach that would pop up every now and then. One week, and my poor cat is searching for mice because they have all disappeared! YAY!!!!”
"I have a rental has rats issues on the roof and ceiling. I have used lots of pest control companies in town and none of them could help much. It has cost me $250 to $450 for them to come and set up two or three traps and a week later come back to remove the trap. Then the problems has come back over and over again. I have even thought about to bring two cats to my tenants.”
